Gwynne Johnson’s musical career has moved away and back to her Texas roots. While living in the St. Louis area, she sang with local bands as well as the St. Louis Symphony. She has performed as a back up singer with Christian Music Artists Amy Grant, Steve Green and Carmen. In 2006, she premiered the original music of Sir Anthony Hopkins with the San Antonio Symphony. While in San Antonio, she performed jazz frequently with guitarist Joe Gonzales, and the duo were featured on KRTU jazz radio and recorded a CD together, “Yesterdays.” She has performed at JEN twice as a member of the vocal jazz ensemble, The New Collection, recording two cds with the group. Gwynne currently performs with her jazz group and with Tapestry, a group featuring the music of Carole King. She also maintains a private voice studio and sings with the national organization “Opera On Tap.”
